YG Entertainment’s survival TV show “WHO IS NEXT” (WIN) will hit the airwaves of more than twelve Asian countries next month.
The show will go on air on September 17 on STAR TV’s cable channel V and FOX TV’s cable channel M for viewers in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam, Philippines, Malaysia, Cambodia, Indonesia, Maldives, Macau, Myanmar and so on, YG Entertainment said through a press release on Tuesday.
The show will also be accessible for Chinese viewers exclusively through China’s video streaming website Youku, while YG is in negotiations for the show to hit Korean English broadcaster Arirang TV in mid September, reaching 188 countries with subtitles including Spanish, Chinese, English and Indonesian.
The 10-part show aims to select YG’s rookie boy band out of two teams, the major agency’s first time in seven years to introduce a boy band since K-pop heavyweight Big Bang. The winning team will be fully decided by the viewer’s poll and make their debut immediately under the group’s name “WINNER.”
YG’s chief producer Yang Hyun-suk will introduce the eleven members of the show during a press conference to be held in Seoul’s hotel this afternoon, live streamed through Korean portal website Daum.
The much-talked about show will hit the airwaves in Korea on two major cable channels this Friday, at 10 p.m. on Mnet and at 11:20 p.m. on tvN KST.
